6 out of 10 people with disabilities in Indonesia are unemployed. There is a gap between the graduates of special needs schools and the job market. We recognized that people with disability also have the talent and potential to gain employment. Therefore, we took a step to close this gap by giving high quality vocational training in graphic design and illustration.

There are two main reasons we decided to choose this training. First, graphic design and digital illustration are two of the most promising jobs in today’s digital marketing industry. Second, we found many students with disability who are talented and interested in learning graphic design and digital illustration.

Project KITA will cater to the needs of deaf and autistic students. We are preparing two classes with visual-based training for deaf students and interactive learning for autistic students. We will also have advance and beginner classes.

Based on ABILITAS.ID’s experience in training youth with disability, they need more than just vocational training to succeed in the job market. They also need a simulation of real-life working experience and sharing session with professional graphic designers and illustrators to motivate them further in their trainings and practices.
